Utah State Trooper Gets Struck By Sliding Vehicle in Snow Storm

A scary moment for a Utah State Trooper was caught on video yesterday, as a heavy snow and ice storm moved through the mountains of Utah. He stops on the side of the highway to help motorists that seem to be stuck in the ice and snow on the side of the road.

Sergeant Brenchley’s dashboard camera was able to capture what happened next, as he exited his vehicle and approached the stranded driver. As he gets closer, another sliding vehicle slams into him, launching the Sergeant 25 feet into the car that was disabled on the side of the road.

“[It] felt liek a weird dream. Felt some sort of impact. Se I’m extremely grateful to be alive,” said Brenchley. Fortunately, the only serious injuries he suffered were a broken shoulder and a few broken ribs. Immediately after the impact, folks stuck on the side of the road, as well as others who witnessed came to Brenchley’s aid.

Sgt. Brenchley is expected to make a full recovery, no charges have been pressed against the driver who was also involved in the accident.
