YouTube Shooter Identified, Hated Company

She identified herself as a vegan bodybuilder and animal rights activist. Nasim Najafi Aghdam of San Diego is the shooter behind the incident at the YouTube headquarter in San Bruno, CA yesterday.

Female shooters are rare and only make up about 4% of all shooters.

Nasim wounded three employees at the YouTube campus yesterday and a fourth person was injured on their ankle trying to escape the building. A 36-year-old man was in critical condition, a 32-year-old woman in serious condition and a 27-year-old woman in fair condition.

Nasim was 39 years old and ran YouTube video channels in English, Turkish and Farsi as well as an Instagram account dedicated to her vegan lifestyle.

“There is no equal growth opportunity on YOUTUBE or any other video sharing site, your channel will grow if they want to!!!!!” one post reads. “YouTube filtered my channels to keep them from getting views!”

“She was always complaining that YouTube ruined her life,” Shahran Aghdam, the alleged shooter’s brother, told reporters. She made public posts telling her audience how Yotube was demonetizing her videos. She reportedly “hated” the company.

Ismail Aghdam had reported his daughter missing on Monday night and warned police that she might be heading for the YouTube building. She was found asleep in her car by police around 2am Tuesday Morning but apparently did not make the connection.

“The San Bruno Police Department is investigating a motive for this shooting.  At this time there is no evidence that the shooter knew the victims of this shooting or that individuals were specifically targeted,” police said in a news release.
